Lanyard is here
It’s almost impossible not to see a lanyard in the course of a day and nine times out of ten you ignore it unless you are at a school function, or a convention. The rest of the time they are invisible even though they are very visible. The lanyard is one of those items that’s taken for granted until you need one, and chances are pretty good you’re going to need one for something at some point. The twisted piece of rope, cord or other kinds of materials, that is worn around the wrist or neck is designed for many uses, in fact the list of uses is longer than you think. It can be a short line with a clip, any rope that ties off something, a line attached to a tool, a cord worn around the neck to hold a whistle, or a nautical line that is used to extend riggings on ships and that’s just some of the uses.

The interesting part about lanyards is that they have become so fashionable. There are printed lanyards, blank lanyards, cell phone lanyards, power cord lanyards, Woven-in logo lanyards, pen holder lanyards, neoprene lanyards, clear vinyl lanyards. And that’s just for starters. There are imprinted lanyards that hold ID badges, custom lanyards that promote a special business or school and let’s not forget the sport lanyard. How about the plain neck lanyard that holds convention information and the cheap lanyard made from a shoe lace.
Lanyards sell items and promote schools and businesses. They’re inexpensive and are easy to purchase and fun to design. Young girls and boys wear necklace and wrist lanyards that have a special or secret meaning. There are pet lanyards and retractable lanyards. Even church’s use lanyards for various activities and functions. There are government lanyards and there has even been a satellite with the codename lanyard that was used for a short time in 1963.
What would the world be like without the lanyard? What would hold the world together if the lanyard disappeared? I guess we would find something, but how could we call it anything but a lanyard?
